1000 x 1000 : CRISIS CASH FOR INDEPENDENTS
With the support of VAPAC and 71 other Champion Companies and 363 Donors, the Crisis Cash for Independents has raised $338,000 (including Creative Partnerships Australia matched funding of $110,000). $308,000 has been disbursed, providing emergency payments of $1,000 to 308 independent artists, producers and production crew in the performing arts. More requests for support continue to come in daily, especially given the current COVID-19 restrictions in Victoria. Let’s raise enough for 50 additional bursaries.
“Supporting those neglected in Government Covid support plans is not only financially welcome but more importantly a great morale booster.”
“I can cover some of my outstanding debts and breathe a little easier.”
“As I stare down the barrel of unemployment, Crisis Cash has made me feel supported in an environment where artists are being very much left behind.”
“A great relief as I am just living from month to month.”
Donations to Crisis Cash via the Australian Cultural Fund are being accepted till 30 June, after which TNA will continue to disburse remaining funds till expended. If it is within your capacity to do so, we are asking you to join us in a call for donations to Crisis Cash as the EOFY approaches.
Many in our sector are resiliently trying to operate under the ‘New normal’ – though you will know first-hand that many COVID-related challenges remain. The surge of requests for support we’ve received during the current Victorian lockdown (coinciding with RISING festival, now cancelled) reminds us of the precarity of our current situation, and that there is still an ongoing need for financial support during these times. Without a safety net, indies are particularly vulnerable. This is compounded by the lack of COVID support currently available for independents (eg. JobKeeper ending, sole traders having to be registered for GST to access the Victorian Business Support Packages).
Donations are tax deductible and every single contributed dollar will go towards the bursaries – neither TNA nor CPA are charging fees.
