Exciting update to the Victorian Government Sick Pay Guarantee Program!
We’re thrilled to share that following several months of advocacy from VAPAC, the Victorian Government’s Sick Pay Guarantee Program is expanding to include technical staff from across the creative industries, including all performing arts centre technicians. This means that in addition to casual box office and front-of-house roles, casual technicians can now access up to 38 hours of sick and carers pay a year. The pilot program has also been extended until March 2025, and is fully funded by government with no cost to business.
This three-year initiative serves as a safety net for those hardworking individuals who often don’t have the flexibility to take time off when unwell. The inclusion of technical staff in the eligibility is an important recognition of the vital role they play in our sector.
