Position Description

Drum Theatre, City of Greater Dandenong is seeking a passionate, hard-working and committed individual to be engaged as the Project Coordinator to be responsible for bringing together and delivering Emerge @ Drum Theatre.

Emerge @ Drum Theatre is a large community festival presenting an original, creative and quality artistic/entertainment program drawing on the musicians and other performers from diverse cultures who reside in and around Dandenong. The event engages with an increasingly large audience, presenting a free public program of entertainment and events across four ‘precincts’ on one day. Guiding principles include:

• development and showcasing of new cultural performance

The Project Coordinator role requires a thorough understanding of public program and event development from feasibility and conception to event delivery. The successful applicant will have a flair for working with diverse groups and stakeholders and understand the needs in delivering a successful event with a capacity to relate creatively to artists and engage with the community.

The role is responsible for coordinating up to four (4) program/precinct areas across the entire event and will be a key point-of-contact for artists, art/entertainment organisations, community representatives, and any other relevant internal/external stakeholders.

In addition to coordinating and ensuring the successful delivery of the event program, the role requires a capacity to oversee all production requirements, ensuring all sound, lighting and other technical production aspects are fulfilled. In conjunction with the development of each specific program area, there is an opportunity to provide input into the design and presentation of each program area.

The role will be responsible for coordinating the overarching event program budget, reporting weekly on budget expenditure and identifying any areas of concern, driving budget savings and efficiencies where possible.

The Project Coordinator will be a member of the Drum Theatre team reporting directly to the Director, Cultural Facilities. The role will be guided by a Coordinating Team drawn from the group of stakeholders.

The position is a part-time, contract role, located within Drum Theatre offices, commencing April 2012 until July 2012.
