VAPAC'S Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
VAPAC’S COMMITMENT
VAPAC is committed to supporting diversity and inclusion in our industry, and is proud to work collaboratively with partner organisations to ensure our members have access to excerpt advice and best-practice models.
VAPAC currently has policies in place relating to:
- Access and Equity
- Fairness, Respect and Diversity
These policies are reviewed by the VAPAC Executive Director and Executive Committee.
In 2023, VAPAC is also working to develop an Equity Action Plan as part of the Fair Play program, led by Diversity Arts Australia. VAPAC is also a member of the Fair Play Advisory Committee, supporting the participation of several regional venues in the program.
About Fair Play
Fair Play is a training program for the arts, screen and culture sectors. It aims to improve Justice, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in these sectors. Diversity Arts Australia manages the program. We also work in partnership with First Nations and Disability-led organisations and educators.
Fair Play consists of seminars and practical workshops. These develop the skills of organisations to work with people from three under-represented groups. Fair Play focuses on:
- First Nations people;
- d/Deaf and Disabled communities;
- People from culturally and racially marginalised (CaRM) communities.
Fair Play is not about box-ticking for diversity. It is about making real systemic change. In Fair Play, participants will learn how and why marginalisation occurs. This will empower them to improve accessibility, respect and inclusion in their workplace.
